Stoves can be easily self-installed but you need building control approval (which is easily done). You may wish to have your stove installed by a Hetas registered installer in which case you do not need building control approval. more information on stove installation.
The chimney liner fits into the top of this flex adapter. As you can see there is a gap between the inner and outer tube at the top of the adapter. Once the end of the chimney liner is has been pushed inside this gap snugly the three screws are tightened to grip the liner tightly so that it cannot come out. On the inner ring there is a small cut out near the bottom that will drain any tar that gets between the tubes into the stove. The bottom end of the flex adapter is a single skin tail that fits nicely into the single skin flue pipe which will run down to your stove.
The flex adapter is also used to pull the liner down through the chimney - the end of the liner is screwed into the end of the adapter and then wires are attached to each of the screws and brought together underneath the adapter. This lets you attach a rope to the liner and pull it down the chimney. If there are sharp bends then you may need a nose cone to pull the liner down.
