Stoves can be easily self-installed but you need building control approval (which is easily done). You may wish to have your stove installed by a Hetas registered installer in which case you do not need building control approval. more information on stove installation.
The rain cap stops rain entering the chimney liner. When you have lined a chimney the inside of the liner is smooth and waterproof and any rain getting inside will flow down to your stove. Over time this can rust your flue pipe and damage your stove. To use the rain cap you will need a top insert.
